Educational Technology - Learning Theory
|
From the inner city of New York City to the remote and
rugged terrain of eastern Turkey, to the deep jungles of Malaysia – children around the world stand to benefit from Dr. Mitra’s "School in the Cloud" project. And the sooner we get it to them, the better. From Anne Shaw's letter to Newcastle University on the impact of School in the Cloud (linked below) |
You may recall Dr. Mitra's amazing Hole in the Wall project. This research led him to becoming the recipient of the 2013 TED Prize of $1 million dollars! The prize supports Dr. Mitra's vision for a "school in the cloud"!
Few educators/visionaries/researchers have the vision and the fortitude to see that vision through to reality. Dr. Mitra's "School in the Cloud" dream is coming true! It has begun operations at several sites! The School in the Cloud utilizes his learning theory for what he refers to as SOLE, which stands for Self Organized Learning Environments.
His research demonstrates that it is now possible - and feasible - to educate every child in the world - right where they are!
