What We Believe -
What is it we are trying to do with 21st Century Schools?
Our goal is to transform education from the current, obsolete "factory model" of the 19th and 20th centuries to a 21st century model. This will require much more than minor tweaks and fixes, it will require completely new paradigms and practices. We will support educators through our products and services.
We will support educators by helping them to redefine the purposes of education in the 21st century, and to create environments and learning experiences for students which are aligned to those purposes.
1. Help educators understand what a 21st century school is. Support educators in creating and implementing experiences for their students that enable them to develop to their greatest potential as human beings. Attending to and supporting students' needs by providing these experiences within the context of an intentionally designed learning environment - the physical environment, the emotional/social environment, and finally, the academic environment. These experiences will then prepare students for successful life in the 21st century.
2. 21st Century Schools will provide unique, superior services and products to support educators in creating excellent, 21st century schools.
3. 21st Century Schools is the only educational services firm with a comprehensive, integrated vision of authentic 21st century education, from facilities and schoolyards to curriculum design to professional development.
4. We believe that learning is serious, but that doesn't mean it has to be grim. We seek to put the joy back into teaching and learning.
5. We believe that the purpose of education is not to prepare students to take tests, but to make learning relevant, rigorous and real world. We believe that all students can succeed at much higher levels than their teachers, or even their parents, realize. When afforded with very high expectations, followed by needed support, students can and will achieve at astounding levels.
6. We believe the learning experiences should be student-centered, i.e., driven by the student and designed to meet the student's need regarding pace, focus and methods of learning.
7. 21st century education is not about memorizing facts but about what the student can do with that knowledge. 21st century learning must develop 21st century skills which are not limited to "the 4 Cs" but include:

21st Century Schools will become the leading provider of products and services for educators and educational organizations worldwide in creating and sustaining authentic 21st century education for PK-16. Including public, private and alternative schools. (home schooling?)
21st Century Schools is dedicated to establishing a new level of understanding in the world of the purpose of education and how educational experiences should be created to support educators and students.
