As you watch the video above think about:
1. The "cells and bells" structure of the school - which is what most schools today have, even if they are brand new schools. We really have to rethink this way of organizing students and their learning. These environments do not support 21st century learning, skills or literacies. 2. The classrooms - what did you see? The "cemetery method" - students sitting in rows, very quiet and very still, in a teacher-centered classroom. 3. Did you see students actively engaged in discovery, creative pursuits, hands-on learning or discussion groups? |
