Here are the tools we use when
designing an interdisciplinary, integrated unit. We begin by selecting
a theme, then concept-mapping that theme as we brainstorm the possibilities
for connections to the disciplines. In addition to the concept
mapping, we also use PowerPoint to brainstorm possible "Big Questions" for
the unit. These Big Questions will guide student research, making the
information in the disciplines (standards) necessary and therefore,
relevant!
