Professional Staff Development

Professional staff development from 21st Century Schools is not the typical "sit and get" "lecture" format usually encountered.  We frequently hear comments that our workshops are like none others participants have experienced, that they received more information than other workshops provided, and that the entire experience was not only one of intensive learning but was also energizing and fun!

We practice what we teach.  Research has firmly established that learning occurs at highest levels when students teach others and make immediate use of their learning.  This is how we teach educators to design and deliver curriculum, structure the learning environment AND it is what you will experience in our professional development.

Click here to see a video made about a workshop we facilitated in Paducah, Kentucky.  Our workshops are student-centered, so you will only see the participants, not the facilitator.

Tips for Planning Effective Professional Staff Development

What is 21st Century Education?

Curriculum Design -  allow consultants at 21st Century Schools to assist you in  designing and developing curriculum for your district and campuses.  We will work with teachers, administrators and parents as you design and align your district/campus curriculum - vertically, horizontally and globally - to meet the needs of your students for the new millennium.

Vertical Alignment -  addressing the flow of the curriculum in a PreK-12 perspective.

Horizontal Alignment -  addressing the flow of the curriculum across disciplines within grade levels.

Globally Balanced -  aligning the curriculum into a meaningful and complete whole which not only meets state and national standards, but is connected to the community as our society undergoes rapid changes due to the phenomena of technology, media and globalization in all aspects of life.
