Traveling literally around the world this past
year brought the topics of Innovation and Entrepreneurship into the spotlight
for us. While Americans talk about, and acknowledge the need for innovation and
entrepreneurship, we remain mired down in problems related to standardized
testing, teacher evaluations and a torrent of buzzwords, quick fixes and
acronyms. For the most part, education and learning (in America and around the
world) have been replaced by test prep factories, and American schools have
become known as "pipelines to prison" as disillusioned students drop out of
school at the rate of one student every 9 seconds!
In the meantime, national governments, industries and ministries of education
around the world are seriously focusing on innovation and entrepreneurship, and
they know that developing these habits, skills and mindsets begins in the
classroom. We saw absolute determination and dedication to innovation and
entrepreneurship in the
countries we visited. Also see
